You need:

• UK Passport
  A visa is not required for UK Passport holders.
• Driving Licence International Driving Licence Especially if you have the old type (no picture) licence. Available from the AA.
  
• Insurance Green Card
  Now not normally required - check with your insurance company
• Log Book
• MOT Certificate
  And if it's near to the expiry date, renew it before you leave, in case you get delayed.
• European Vehicle Recovery
  Check if your policy covers Hungary and Romania
• Travel Insurance
  Recommended, but the choice is yours...
• Not your vehicle?
  Letter of authorisation to drive vehicle, if the vehicle you are using doesn't belong to you.

We require:

• efficient car
• MT tires (Mud Tires), eventually AT (All Terrain)
• elemental off-road equipment,
• CB Radio (EU standart, not UK)
• camping equipment
• supplies water and lunch,
• light and head light.

In addition, we recommend:

• gps,
• rovinieta - Nevertheless every car that uses a motorway(A) or a national road (DN) in Romania must wear a sticker called a "rovinieta" on its windscreen, which can be bought at larger petrol stations just behind the border crossing, (16 EUR/30days)
• MAPS - A set of road maps would also be useful

Do not forget:

• a first aid kit complete with ANTIBIOTIC, antiseptic, eye drops, etc ...,
• jacket, hat or cap,
• sunglasses and sunscreen,
• sleeping bag,
• folding table and chairs,
• garbage bags,
• AND DO NOT FORGET TO CLOSE THE GAS AND WATHER TO THE HOUSE ...
