"Transylvania HAM RADIO EXPEDITION"

From 19 June - 15 August 2010 we would like to invite all to communication with the station YO/M0GQU. This station will be part of an Off Road expedition to "Transylvania 4x4 TOUR". It's an annual event of a tourist and crossing nature with elements of off-road.
Routes count of approximately 1000km. They lead by a rivers, hills, mountains, forests, ravines and gorges, peaks at an altitude of 2500 meters above sea level and the lakes in a depression, a natural and the artificial dams to the 300m high, wild and forbidding places, but very friendly. All of this creates an unforgettable experience, which reaches deep into the memory. Landscapes overwhelm its beauty. Night talks by the fire high in the mountains, swimming in the rivers, exploring the culture of the country.
If you like adventure, challenges on the field, everything what we can offer you, it means that the "Transylvania 4x4 TOUR" is a perfect event for you and your friends.
Our adventure will begin in the UK. In total, the deal would be around 5000km, so it's not an easy task. You will pass many countries before arriving in the N position. You will be tired, but it will be worth it because at this point a real adventure starts, the "Transylvania 4x4 TOUR".
"Transylvania 4x4 TOUR" mainly intends to share the fun. It will check the skills of navigation, situational awareness, road maps usage, and area observation, a good and safe driving 4x4 cars in various field conditions and weather, integration with other groups.
Care of the participants will hold the people who are cultivating off road for over ten years. They are experienced, responsible, with great knowledge. In the evenings, they provide excellent stories from the distant expeditions.
"Transylvania 4x4 TOUR" is closely linked to the portal www.4x4zone.co.uk promoting off road in the UK and Europe.

With high demand for active mountain areas, such as in the Romanian Carpathians, the occasion arises for an amateur radio station during the "Transylvania 4x4 TOUR" to allow easy communication.
At the moment our team consists of 3 operators (1 Polish, 1 English and 1 from Australia).
The idea is to activate a mobile work station YO/M0GQU/M and base YO/M0GQU. In addition, there will be attempts of station work through, APRS - M0GQU-9.
During the day the station will be heard primarily in the band 80m, 15m, and if the propagation conditions allow on 10m and 6m.
We hope that this activation will be an interesting element in the work of ham radio.
Work is currently underway on the hardware configuration, so this was the most effective mobility-base(d) solution. We turn to you with enquiry about adequate equipment for our expeditionary cars that allow us to communicate during the "Transylvania 4x4 TOUR"
After many studies and capability tests, we selected the following as the most optimal configuration:

• TX-RX HF: Yaesu FT-857
• APRS: Kenwood TM-D700 or D710
• Mobile aerial: ATAS1-100 or ATAS-120
• AutoTuner: LDG Z-100
• Base aerial: Multiband HF Vertical Antenna (80m - 6m)
